No matter how many times I watch Finding Nemo with my kids, somehow I always see something new… a funny line, short scene… I’ve watched this movie now at least 25 times with them. First they had to watch Dora and only Dora, but recently they have found Nemo and LOVE watching it.
The Disney movies are much easier to watch after 25 times. The movies are entertaining for both kids and adults. The kids love the animated part and I think that the adults enjoy the dialog.
I wonder what movie is going to be next?
Well, the National Terror alert has published that they have ID’d the two ships that cut the undersea cables last February… See the story here.
Wait a minute… two ships caused 5 internet cables to break almost two weeks apart…

Something just doesn’t seem right…

Had my conspiracy mind spinning lately with an interesting theory…Tell me what you think.
Here is how I see the chain of events happening:
Facts:
1. Sometime in Jan 2008 Bush Order Expands Network Monitoring: Washington Post
2. In early February, five (5) internet fibre optic cables were broken. See background here: MIT TR, ABC News.
3. On Feb 20, the US Navy shot down an orbiting satellite. See background here: NY Times
4. The location of the USS Jimmy Carter, the newest intelligence submarine in the US fleet, is not known: IT Security
5. Super-speed Internet satellite blasts Japan: CNN
Theory:
Could this be a prelude to an information technology war brewing? For a country to control the information flow they would need to control the two major methods of connectivity:
1. Fibre optic cables.
2. Satellites used for internet communication.
Or, even better yet, what better way to install your eavesdropping equipment then cause a failure and have the ‘repair’ crew do it for you.

Why scientists love games consoles – Telegraph
No mention of the XBOX 360 in this article… I wonder if Microsoft’s DRM prevents running other OS’s. I know that XBMC can run but I wonder if you can get Linux to run on the XBOX 360?
Still, it kinda neat to see how game consoles are being used for other purposes.

One update that I would consider now is the ‘slow death’ of HD-DVD.

Bruce Schneier is probably one of the leading and most well known cryptographers in the world. Check out his web site here. He wrote an interesting article in the Wired magazine blog called ‘Steal This Wi-Fi‘.
He discusses the pros and cons of keeping his wireless connection open.. unencrypted and available for all to use.
Also mentioned is the website Fon. Check out the fon free wireless locations here.
